Maggie is not something you see every day – little Maggie is registered in the MFTHBA Pony Registry. She is currently 13 hands tall and is a beautiful sorrel roan with a blaze and 2 rear stockings. She was sired by the MFT stallion Travelers Southern Big Boy by Traveler’s Southern Sunrise Lad by Southern Sunrise and out of a gaited pony mare. Maggie is a 4-year-old filly that was broke and trained by our 13-year-old daughter. Maggie is very gentle, stands for mounting, has the most amazing walk on a pony that I have ever seen, she has a beautiful fox trot, and will push past a fox trot into a running walk that a lot of grown horses can’t keep up with. Maggie is large enough to carry a small adult or children. She is not a lazy pony and has the stamina to last for a long day’s ride. She has a very light mouth and is easy to control, will flat walk when asked, and will also canter. Maggie knows how to side pass, backs wonderfully, moves over to objects on command for easy mounting, and even lays down! She has experience out on the trails, will lead or follow, crosses water and down timber, and is extremely agile when moving through rough terrain. She is the coolest little thing and would make an experienced kid or small adult an amazing trail mount or she would raise some amazing, registered fox-trotting pony foals when bred to the registered stallion of your choice. He wants to connect and when you take time to invest in him he does the same for you. He is his best self when being used. He is athletic and very intelligent and aware of his surroundings. This being said he is responsive to a riders legs, hands and his environment. He had some time off due to the owners health while he was young but spent last summer/fall rebuilding his foundation with an excellent horseman for several months and is back in training preparing for the sale. He has naturally smooth gaits including a nice canter. Will lead out or follow. He loads and trailers well, stands tied for hours, has solid feet and does well for the farrier. He gets along in a herd and has also been stalled alone. Has spent time in the arena. Has been on pack trips in the high back country of Utah, has been hobbled, can be laid down. Big Jake is a one-of-a-kind MFT gelding standing 16 hands with a stocky build like a Quarter horse. You will not find another gaited horse with this much shape. We purchased Jake when he was 6 months old, and he has been Winston’s personal favorite for years! Jake has thousands of miles trail riding, bird-hunting, and field trialing. He has been hauled and ridden all over from the Continental Divide to the piney woods of South Florida. He has seen about every type of terrain and wild animal you may encounter. Jake parks out for mounting. He neck reins perfectly one-handed, side passes, responds to leg pressure, and lopes both leads. He has a very smooth gait. Jake is very sure-footed and careful while going through rough terrain. Jake can pack all your gear for you up the mountain and is stout and steady enough to ride all day in high country. He is good with water, bridges, gunfire, dogs, bullwhips, traffic, dragging anything and ponying other horses. All of our horses begin each training session with groundwork desensitizing them to accept flags, bags, and tarps.
